This will be a short post, as we had a small group on Wednesday and are now in full swing gearing up for our last class! The story was the memorable one in which God refuses to to share His glory with the prideful King of Babylon -- a loving thing to do because worshipping God is the only thing that will ultimately bring this King satisfaction.
We opened by gluing shredded green paper onto a picture of the king hunched over and munching on grass. You could see his long fingernails and shaggy hair. The story did seem to capture their imaginations.
Afterward we went outside and pretended to be various animals, traveling back and forth across the front yard through the grass in a gallop as horses, hopping as kangaroos, and so on. Back inside, we sang our review verse 2 Corinthians 10:17, and went over the priest pages for our "Prophet, Priest and King" booklets. We had lunch and enjoyed each other's company very much.
The Verse CDs are ready, and I think most of the children have them. If not, the Verse Jingles are posted as usual at the right. This week, we will hear our last story, about Nehemiah, finish our booklets and recite (or sing) the verses we have covered in this mini-summer session. We have some special ribbons for everyone, and will award badges as well. Can't wait to see you all.
