This past Wednesday, Cherie taught the Bible story about God using Joseph in Egypt to preserve His people during the famine. (She used scant portions of popcorn to illustrate what it would be like to not have enough to eat.) We taught Psalm 121:5-6, which corresponds to the ideas stressed in the story: that God is faithful and looks out for His people. God was good even to Joseph's evil brothers. God said he would take care of the children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and he did, even when they didn't deserve it.
We have added another verse jingle to our list: Psalm 121:5-6, sung to the tune of "Joy to the World." Click on the "Verse Jingle" link at this site, and you will see how to match the words to the carol's tune, if you would like to do this at home. If you have trouble, e-mail me! I have been amazed at how quickly children can learn the verses using the jingles, and more importantly, how well they retain them. All the children are a joy to have in class and have learned many new skills in addition to the Word of God -- like how to walk in a line!
